From ½ day to multi-day programs
These programs give you the possibility to explore Bariloche in an active way. Discover the spectacular wild mountains and lakes where you will experience the nature and pure environment. All tours are guided by our experienced mountain guides.
We have options ranging from a half day (for adding a little bit of adventure and hiking to your tour) up to a few days of more difficult trekking.
We are happy to offer hiking, trekking, mountaineering and bird watching programs all year round for all levels, always in wonderful environments of North Patagonia.
We work on these programs with a specialized local operator, which we personally have known for many years. The staff is composed of professional mountain guides endorsed by the Argentine Mountain Guides Association (AAGM) and authorized by the National Parks Administration (APN).
• MOUNT LLAO LLAO
Difficulty (*): Easy-moderate (200 meters/ 600 feet of elevation gain, around 6 km/ 4 miles walk)
Duration: half day (3 hours approximately from the hotel, roundtrip)
Season: September to May

Description: Enjoy an amazing hiking and sightseeing experience, delighting you with some impressive panoramic views.
You'll be picked up by our expert trekking guide in a private vehicle. Our destination is the Cerro Llao Llao (Mount Llao Llao), definitely one of the most beautiful outings in this region. The hike on Mount Llao Llao is an easy walk that takes us through a beautiful forest to strategic panoramic points that will allow us to enjoy and take pictures of amazing views. It takes approximately 2 hours to complete this hike, involving some brief uphill sections.
Included: English speaking mountain guide private service, private transportation, snacks and water.
• PENINSULA LLAO LLAO CIRCUIT
Difficulty /level of fitness (*): Easy-moderate (300 meters/ 900 feet of elevation gain, around 15 km/ 9 miles walk) some 4 hours of walking
Duration : around 6 hours from the hotel, roundtrip
Start at 9:30 AM. Return at around 4:30 PM
Season : October to May
Description : This easy and mostly flat hike links up three trails forming a loop that takes us to many beautiful places such as the "Bosquecito de Arrayanes de Llao Llao"(see photo below) a unique little forest of Luma apiculata with its cinnamon color bark, the Lake Moreno and Lake Nahuel Huapi.
After a picnic style lunch in a gorgeous setting we continue with some uphill walk. Our destination is the Cerro Llao Llao (Mount Llao Llao), definitely one of the most beautiful short hikes in the entire region. Once again will be immersed in a beautiful forest but this time getting higher and visiting strategic panoramic points that will allow us to enjoy and take pictures of amazing views.
Note: This circuit involves walking for some 20 minutes total on car roads to connecting trails.

• HIKE THROUGH RIDGES TO MOUNTAIN HUT FREY
The traverse of Cerro Catedral
Difficulty / level of fitness (*): moderate / hard. Exposed steep, rocky terrain during half of the hike .
Duration : full day. 6 to 7 hours of walking, covering some 19 kilometers ( 12 miles ) total, with an elevation gain of 300 meters / 1000 feet (up) and an elevation loss of 1000 meters / 3000 feet (downhill) total. The entire outing takes around 10 hours from the hotel, roundtrip.
Season : December through April
Description : Begin with a morning ascent via cable car or chairlift from ski resort Cerro Catedral with a vertical gain of 1000m ( 3,300 ft .). Thereafter, a hike on mountain trails and ridges will reveal spectacular views of lake "Nahuel Huapi" and lake "Gutierrez", mount "Tronador" and many other mountains and valleys of great splendor.
Within three hours of hiking through rocky terrain and few uphill sections, passing along the way lake "Schmoll", you will arrive at Mountain Hut Frey 1700m ( 5600 ft .) situated along the edges of lake "Toncek". The surroundings of "Frey" are a rock climber's paradise, a magnificent scene rich in granite rock formations. The hike down to "Frey" requires coordination skills navigating through a loose and rocky terrain .
In the afternoon, descend back down to "Villa Catedral" via the regular route. This three hour hike takes you through a "lenga" forest of indescribable beauty, passing along the way Mountain Hut "Piedritas" and "Van Titter" stream.
A HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TRAVERSE for people who are not afraid of heights and who are used to hike on rocky terrain.

• MOUNT TRONADOR –MEILING HUT
Difficulty / level of fitness (*): moderate. Around 5 hours of walking per day, covering some 34 kilometers total, with an elevation gain of 1000 meters / 3000 feet total. Duration: two days, one night
Season : December through April
Guide : Private English/Spanish speaking professional mountain guide
Description: This is a different mountain from the others in the area of Bariloche. It is the highest peak of the region and has several glaciers and beautiful waterfalls. This trekking starts 90 kilometers away from the city, leading us to the "Meiling" mountain hut, hiking up through a wonderful forest in the first part and then along a wide ridge of lunar characteristics (volcanic rock) with impressive views of the glaciers and waterfalls that soar for hundreds of meters.
The surrounding area of the Meiling Hut is one of the best places to watch the amazing Andean Condor gliding very close to us. Imagine a 3 meters / 10 feet wing-span flying a few meters away!!

• "FREY JACOB" Trekking
Difficulty / level of fitness (*): moderate / hard. Exposed steep rocky terrain in parts .
Duration: three days, two nights.
Season: December to April

Transfer : private vehicle
Description : A classic and highly recommendable trekking involving visit to two mountain huts, both located in landscapes of fantasy . The "Frey" hut by the shore of lake "Toncek" and "San Martin" hut by the lake "Jakob". We spend one night in each hut or nearby in tents. Before the final stretch down from "San Martin" Hut, we visit the mountain lake "Tempanos", another place of indescribable beauty, a few minutes away.

(*) "Difficulty / level of fitness" description is just a guideline. It is supposed to reflect, at least in a comparative way, the requirements that the trip presents to the trekker/mountaineer in terms of endurance, altitude gain, the distances to cover, backpack weight and the possibility of technical climbing. Always keep in mind that these parameters reflect the beginner hiking level.
